Ryan filming while children are learning the detriments of plastic

Our Pebble in the Pond team was invited to Henderson School to film Janet May’s presentation on the impact plastic has on our environment.  Janet May has been doing the presentation in our local schools for quite a while now but it was the first time our team was able to attend.  Janet set the visuals and projector up and Brooks High school students Graham May and Kyle Trelor presented it to a classroom of Grade 4 students.  Karen took pictures while Ryan and Aron filmed it.  The awesome response from the children and how engaged the students were in the presentation was very pleasing.  Some of the questions asked had some very interesting answers.  How long does plastic last asked Kyle, one of the students answered 5 days, another answered 30 weeks.  They were very surprised to learn it takes 7 bags to fuel a car for 1 kilometer.  One student was very eager to tell on her dad for never using paper bags but always plastic bags.  It was very humorous at times.  I think the high school students did a wonderful job of capturing the grade 4 students attention.  Graham May and Kyle Trelor are a part of School District 47 Sustainability & Eco-Education, you can learn more at http://www.outdoorssd47.bc.ca/
