PIP @ Festival of Trees

November 25, 2009

The Christmas tradition continues! The Powell River Association for Community Living is excited to host the 14th annual Festival of Trees and Pebble in the Pond is excited to be a part of it.

We wanted to demonstrate that there are other ways to have a tree for Christmas without cutting a live one or resorting to plastic, so all the elements of our ‘tree’ are natural materials:

  • “tree”:  ceramic pots with wicker topiaries
  • white branches:  bits of a dead vine that had killed a tree causing it to topple and then killing the vine
  • red branches:  a crazy bush growing out of the parking lot behind our offices

We crafted all of our ornaments including origami peace doves and traditional Scandinavian woven hearts.  Instructions for both are here:

We are still in the running for the Aviva Community Fund Competition.  Only 4 days left to vote!! Click here to cast your vote now.
